PRESENTERS

Oliver Williams, PhD, -University of Minnesota, Executive Director of the Institute of Domestic Violence in the African American Community at the University of Minnesota at St. Paul. He has worked in the D.V. field for over 25 years and has provided individual, couples and family counseling. Has provided training across the U.S. and abroad. He serves on several national advisory boards and received numerous awards for his work with domestic violence and fatherhood.

Alyce LaViolette, MS, MFT, - Long Beach, CA. Founder of Alternatives to Violence, worked with battered women since 1978, developed training programs for L.A. & California State Departments of probation. Frequently requested speaker. Published various articles, co-authored a parenting curriculum for D.V. families, written a pamphlet, and a book. Founding member of A.B.I.P. and C.A.B.I.P. received numerous awards.

Dag McLoud, -San Francisco, CA. Administartion Office of the Courts-Manager of Project to Assess the Efficacy of Batterers’ Intervention Programs in California.

Bernita Walker,  -Los Angeles, CA. Co-Founder of Jenessee Shelter for Battered Women in Los Angeles. Project Peacemaker founder, Pioneer within the D.V. movement.

Ellen Goldsmith, MA, MSW, LCSW, Long Beach, CA. Project Manager for Jewish Family & Children Service of Long Beach. 12 years of psychiatric in-patient responsibilities, consultation to nursing staff and private practice. Specialties in D.V., addictions, eating disorders, dual diagnoses, and general communication and relationship concerns.

Susan Holt, Los Angeles, CA. Director of Los Angeles LGBT Domestic Violence Program. Requested D.V. speaker.

Kendal Evans, MA, MFT, -Tarzana, CA. Founder of Another Way, working in the D.V. field for over 20years. He provides psychotherapy at Open Paths Counseling Center where he also provides training, supervision, and workshops. Active member of A.B.I.P. as training committee chair and co-author of the associations’ brochure. Author of two book chapters and a journal article on domestic violence and related topics.
